Dow Jones VentureWire reports on ImageTree’s strategic agreement with In-Q-Tel.

Dow Jones VentureWire, in its May 4, 2009, edition, reported that ImageTree Corp. had received a strategic investment from In-Q-Tel, the independent, not-for-profit strategic investment firm that supports the U.S. Intelligence Community.

Reporter Tomio Geron described the company’s ForestSense technology, which includes high-tech imaging and proprietary analytical software, and its current applications, including providing recommendations for forest management and analyzing biodiversity and carbon-stock of forests. He noted that there is potential for the technology to be used in "climate change prevention measures, such as a ‘cap and trade’ system."

Geron pointed out that while specific details of the potential intelligence applications could not be discussed, ImageTree’s agreement with In-Q-Tel could lead the company to new uses of its technology.

In the piece, ImageTree CEO Mark Redlus, whom Geron interviewed, explained that ImageTree believes it can extend its capabilities "in [analysis of] crop production and humanitarian concern from decreased crop production."
